Welcome To Lac George New York

My title page contents

Visits to Lac George Village from points south to New York City became popular in the early 1800's. At that time, however, travel was difficult and challenging as only wealthy travellers could afford the expensive travel by special train or coach to Lac George Village and points north in the Adirondacks for the fresh air, vacation, hunting and fishing.  Magnificent hotels sprang at that time, and later, when automobiles became the preferred method of travel, affordable to all, roads we created to open Lac George to all to see it's unsurpassed pristine beauty and tranquility.  From the 1920's to the 1950's, curiosity seekers visited Lac George to see and understand what it was that attracted so many, including America's Thomas Jefferson, to Lac George, NY.  The 1950's brought the advent of super highways to bring travellers to all points north of Albany, NY in the Adirondacks. Lac George Hotels lodging accommodations for all budgets were developed both on and off the lake, and Lac George grew in popularity like never before.  Families brought their friends and returned year after year, and continue to date.  Lac George Village, located at the southern end of the Lac George basin, witnessed  American history as far back as the 1600's.

Today, many of those historic sites and forts remain, and Lac George NY Village is a vital center for travellers to stay, dine, shop and enjoy activities, attractions and events of all kinds. Lac George Village accommodations, on or off the lake, afford families the ease of walking from their lodging front door to the center of the Village, dining and lakeshore walkways, paths, beaches and parks.  Special events are hosted year-round, like the Lac George Winter Carnival and visitors enjoy scheduled fireworks and activities. Travelers leaving Lac George Village north along Lake Shore Drive see accommodations nestled on the lac's west shore which have beautiful vistas of the lac and surrounding mountains. While visiting Lac George Village, visit point north, Diamond Point, New York, enjoy area special events, activities, kayaking, boating, area village restaurants, parks, activities, and more!
